Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

game.io is operated by Snowball Studio Ltd., registered at 3 Advance Business Centre, Triq Flores, Santa Venera, SVR1950, Malta(“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use game.io (the “Service”), why we collect it, and your rights.

2. Information we collect

• Account data. Your email address and a securely hashed password when you register, plus your chosen username.
• Profile data. Optional display name, profile photo, country, city, and age that you choose to provide.
• Activity data. Games you favorite, comments you post, and the accounts you follow.
• Technical data. Basic log and device information necessary to operate and secure the Service.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use advertising trackers of our own.

3. How we use your data

• To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
• To show your profile, favorites, comments, and rankings to you and (if your profile is public) to other users.
• To send transactional emails such as password resets.
• To maintain, protect, and improve the Service.

Our lawful bases are performance of a contract (providing the Service) and our legitimate interests (security and improvement).

4. Third-party game providers

Games are embedded from third-party providers (for example, Y8). When you play an embedded game, that provider may set its own cookies and process data under its own privacy policy. We do not control those third parties.

5. Service providers

We use Supabase to host our database and authentication, and a web host to serve the Service. These processors handle data only on our instructions and under appropriate safeguards.

6. Cookies and analytics

We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences (such as theme and accent). With your consent we also use Google Analytics to understand how the Service is used. Analytics and marketing cookies are denied by default and are only set after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choices at any time via Cookie Preferences in the footer.

7. Data retention

We keep your account data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, favorites, and comments. Some residual backups may persist for a short period before being overwritten.

8. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can edit most data in Settings and delete your account there at any time. For other requests, contact us at privacy@snowballstudio.com.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and hashed passwords, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

10. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
